1st Birthday Party!

For Hattie's first birthday party we did a Dumbo theme!  Why?  Because of this picture of me on my first birthday!

I made a crown for her to wear...it was a bit big and made her ears stick out, but we decided that fit in with the theme:

And here's our circus tent table!

The tickets around the edge of the cake are from an arcade in Seaside, OR.  Kurt and I went there with a group of friends and won the tickets before we were even dating (I save a lot of stuff).

Hattie loved the cake!  She broke it up into pieces first and then went to town!  And made a mess.

We didn't get pictures of everyone, but here's Hattie with Charlotte and then with Sarah and David:

Thank you to the Roths (the Joe Roths and the Gordon Roths) and the Fletchers for coming to celebrate Hattie!  We're so glad to have you nearby and are incredibly grateful for your love and support!

And here are Kurt, Hattie, and me on our first birthdays.  She definitely got my hair!

Gail!

I forgot to take pictures with Gail on Hattie's birthday, but these were taken a few days after:

She carries Gail around now!

This one is hilarious!

12 Months!

Hattie keeps growing and learning!  She flew on an airplane for the first time, met relatives, and went to Disneyland for the first time!  She grew her 6th and 7th teeth and loves to try new food.  She's starting to say sounds/words like doo/door and 'ba' which means book and ball.  She will now hand things to us for a reason- if her water bottle is empty she hand it to me so it can be filled.  But mostly she hands us books.  She LOVES books.  Some more than others, and she will let you know if we're reading the wrong book.  Her favorites are 'Hand Hand Finger Thumb', one with pictures of animals, and 'Chicka Chicka Boom Boom'.  Don't little kid books have fun names?  At her 1 year appointment we discovered she's still small!  Weighing in at 18.3lbs and being 27.8in long puts her in the 10th and 14th percentiles respectively.  She may be small, have very little hair, and has developed a habit of squealing, but she's perfect in every way!  Happy Birthday Hattie Elizabeth!

We did a fun photo shoot in our back yard with Kurt holding up a white blanket behind Hattie.  I love these pictures!

Here's 0-11 months all together:

On the day of her birthday the three of us went out to dinner at Red Robin.  We ordered Hattie a meal all to herself for the first time and she got a free milkshake!

Trouble making and dress wearing

Always be suspicious when the baby is quiet!  She found the wipes and figured out how to open them:

She also wore this dress to church!  It's the dress Charlotte wore to my and Kurt's wedding!

Here's Charlotte wearing the same dress nearly 4 years ago:

Happy New Year!

We celebrated the new year by staying at home and doing nothing :)  I did stay up until midnight reading in bed though!

Hattie had to wait almost an entire year to celebrate her first new year!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas 2013 was a memorable one!  Not only was it's Hattie's first Christmas, but it was our first Christmas in Ogden.  Hence, our first Christmas away from our Washington family.  It was sad to be away from our parents and most of our siblings, but we had a wonderful holiday anyways!  Small children certainly make Christmas more exciting.

The Roths came over on Christmas Eve!  We ate Mexican food and put the girls in dresses my mom had sent- dresses she made for her daughters when they were little!  With five girls in our family, there was a dress that fit everyone.

Charlotte REALLY wanted me to take a picture of her on the couch with Joe and Kurt.  She took her sweet time arranging the pillows before allowing me to take a picture and then she wouldn't smile or look at the camera.  Perhaps she wanted a natural shot?  I love this girl!  She's hilarious.

Hattie in her Christmas PJs!

We managed one shot of all three of us on Christmas Eve with the self timer.

Apparently, Hattie was too excited to sleep because she woke up 1.5 hours after going down and was up for a couple hours.  She LOVED playing with the wrapped gifts though.

Good thing nothing was breakable!

On Christmas morning Hattie tried, eggs, sausage, and cinnamon roll for the first time!  She loved eggs- definitely got that from Kurt.

Her favorite toys?  The flashlight in Kurt's stocking and the tags on the outfit she got.

I think Hattie enjoyed her first Christmas!
