Home Alone

Tonight is the first time ever I will spend the night alone in my house here in Seattle. Ever! What am I going to do? I'm kind of excited...

Christmas

This is what I got for Christmas:

And this is also why my arm and shoulder are sore.

Subconscious

I had a dream last night. I was at the Olympic Trials and I met President Elect Barack Obama. But I called him President Palmer. hmm....

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

laugh out loud

Friend: I have to go. I'm going to a movie.
Me: Which one?
Friend: When the Earth Doesn't Move...or something like that.
Me: The Day the Earth Stood Still?

I literally laughed out loud and felt like sharing.

The Logic of Lili

Episode 1:
mom: look at the lights move!
Lili: does that mean the Earth is moving?
me: did you know the Earth is always moving?
Lili: Nuh-uh! We don't always have earthquakes.

Episode 2:
the song "I'll be home with bells on" comes on the radio
Lili: What does she mean? Humans don't wear bells! Horses do!
mom: it means she's a horse
Lili: oh, ok.
It's great to be home!

Snow

You think there's snow in Seattle? Move 80 miles north!

Being home for Christmas means almost daily hikes with my mom. When there's snow, it means I get to wear mis-matched snow clothes because I don't have any of my own.

But we took a new trail on our usual hike around Little Cranberry (it's a lake) and we found a cave!!!

It doesn't look like much but it's actually rather deep. We're going back somtime in the next couple days with a flashlight to explore.

Also, the lake is completely frozen
There's my mom- walking on water.

Friend!

She may kill me for this, or just smash my head into the groud (it's been done before), but this is what I woke up to, lying on my floor:

Welcome home friend! We're glad you're back (but sad it's only temporary).

Flashback

I haven't left the house in over 24 hours now (no judgment) meaning nothing exciting or blog worthy as happened. SO we're going to relive my life a bit. I was reminded of this fun time due to my recent vacation.

Three years ago I took my first solo trip to visit my sisters. Since then that "vacation" has been donned "The Worst Week of My Life"

It started with the airline losing my luggage. Upon arriving I attended a party where I stood by myself in the corner. Then at my sister's apartment I overheard a HUGE argument from the people living above her so I took my sister's car to get away, got lost, called my mom and started crying (why do moms have that effect?). Mom told me to call my sister's fiance to come find me. NOOO! I said. I hardly knew the guy. Instead, my mom called him and I didn't know until he knocked on the car window. I was humiliated- having him see my lost and crying. I jumped into the passenger's seat and I don't think he believed my pitiful pleas of "I'm fine". The next day I went to meet up with a friend. I got in my first (and only) car accident on the way there, totalling my sister's car. My soon to be bro-in-law saw me cry again. The next day driving back to IF to fly out we got a speeding ticket...and didn't have the vehicle registration or insurance in the car because my sister had taken it out to make some calls after the accident. I finally flew home, only to find upon landing that my mom had gotten the time wrong and I had to wait 2 hours in the Seattle airport for my ride. Upon returning home I had to participate in this stupid dance festival that my stake was a part of and while there someone stole all the money out of my purse. I laugh about all this now and realize that it could have been a lot worse, but it was a long week.

So, by comparison, this latest trip to visit my siblings was fantastic. Amazing. Joyous. Excellent. Great. Fun. All positive adjectives.

U of U

After my luncheon as "Megan's Sister" we toured campus a bit, so of course i had to take a cheesy, low quality picture with my camera phone to commemorate the occasion.

Then my awesome friends Dallas (right) and Taylor (left) from home came up from Provo to see me!!! In true U of U fashion we ate at the Pie (or is it Pi?...they have the pi symbol on their shirts!)

I must admit SLC is pretty awesome. It's not quite as....utah...as the rest of the state. Also, Temple Square is fantastic- especially with all the lights and nativities up for Christmas.

So here's a shout out to my sisters and bros-in-law: Thanks for a great vacation! I had an awesome time in both Logan and Salt Lake! I love you all and wish I could spend Christmas with you. Have a Merry Christmas with the in-laws!

A Walk in the Snow

There once was a girl and her sister

Who were divided by this mister

But the girl said peace

This guy is kind of cool

And they all had fun while there wasn’t any school

Then he murdered her with an icicle

Twilight

I finished Breaking Dawn. It was extremely cheesy,
predictable, anti-climactic, and could have been condensed
down to about ¼ its size.

Megan's Sister

So I'm down here in Utah visiting my sister.  She had an appreciation luncheon today for the place she volunteers at.  She pulled a string or two and I was allowed to attend with her.  The food was great, I had funny conversations with the elderly man sitting next to me, and it was an all around good time.  The best part though was my name tag:

Done!

Woohoo! No more tests! No more papers! For 3 whole weeks!

However, finals did take a toll, as the Elders of U3 reminded me yesterday.

After being on campus for 9 straight hours, getting limited sleep, and not having showered in a few days, I'm sure I was a sight to see.

I was finally headed home and on the way to my car I ran into a couple elders. I was exhausted and planned on simply waving hello and going my way....

But as I did so they got a look at me. Their expressions changed slightly and one said with concern on his face, "Hey! um...how are you?"

me: "Oh uh...I'm fine...Finals."

elder: "Yeah, finals week is tough. But just think you're almost done and then you'll get a nice long break!"*

The convo continued for a bit, and then I continued home. Thank you for the concern and encouragement Elders of third ward! I made it. I'm finished. I AM DONE! bring on Christmas Break!

Finals Week!

On campus from 12-9.
studying/test taking from 10-9.
11 straight hours of academics? Maybe not....I get sidetracked sometimes...and do things like take pictures of doodles in my notes.

I like this one.

I was learning about the Revolutionary War. (he's saluting)
I like the ones with quotes:

"...and when she was bad she was horrid"
(it's from a poem)

"Oh to be so merry, to be so free"
(song lyrics by Quinn Deveaux)

Italiano

The other day my friends Esther, Sarah, and I went to get teriyaki. We returned to my house, I parked, and Sarah and Esther opened their doors exactly as a car sped past almost taking of the doors and scaring Sarah half to death- as evidenced by her scream. The man driving slammed on the breaks, skidded to a stop, and started backing up. Immediately all of us thought he would start yelling at us for not looking before opening our doors on the narrow street. But instead we heard "you ok? are you hurt?" in the most awesome, stereotypical Italian accent you can think of. His window had been down and he heard Sarah's scream. We assured him we were ok and went our separate ways- checking twice to make sure no cars were coming before crossing the street.

Gross

I took my first final of the quarter last Wednesday. It was in the biggest lecture hall on campus and the room was completely packed. I found an available seat, got out my scantron and pencil, and waited for the test to start. About 5 min in the guy sitting next to me started hacking up something. And then he spit it out. Into a bottle. He did this for the ENTIRE test. About every minute he would start hacking and then spit. Disgusting. I finished my test as quickly as possible and ran for the exit.
