August 2017: Highlights

Cassiopeia!

My good friend and former housemate Cassie came to meet Hattie!  She now lives in southern California, but was in Washington for a few days after returning from the Philippines.  She took the trip with her mom (who's from there) to visit family.  She had some crazy stories!

I like to think Hattie is upset that her bow is out of place and not that Cassie is holding her (really, I think she was hungry):

According to Cassie, Hattie has a piercing stare that looks straight in to one's soul.  I haven't experienced that, but Hattie was staring down Cassie for the first few minutes after she arrived.

We also got our first family photo!  I can't believe it took us over 2 months to get a picture with all three of us together.  Thanks Cassie!

We'll get another some day with a happy baby.

It was SOOOO good to see you Cassie!  It's been way too long!  And I'm glad you don't have rabies.

Leopard

I'm not the biggest fan of animal print so I was skeptical when Hattie received a leopard print dress at one of her baby showers.  She wore it to church today and looked adorable!  I should've know- she looks good in everything!

Bumbo!

Hattie enjoyed sitting in her Bumbo for the first time!  Her neck is getting much stronger.  She'll be sitting up on her own before I know it!

Snow Day!

It snowed Thursday night!  Hattie was born in mid-January and she had to wait until spring to see snow.  So I put her in her adorable snow suit and we took a quick walk!  I don't think she enjoyed it too much- by the time we got outside it was sunny and super bright.  She didn't want to open her eyes!

The day she was born

I was looking through the pictures on Kurt's phone and I found these of Hattie and me the day she was born.  I'm so glad Kurt took them!

New 'do

Since I only get a haircut once a year (or less!) I decided it's blog-worthy.  So here it is!

We tried to get pictures with Hattie but she kept on moving.  She's still super cute even as a blur!

The Crib!

Hattie in her crib!  I just started putting her in the crib for naps and at bed time.  It's gone ok.  She doesn't sleep as long which is unfortunate, but I think she's just getting used to it.  I guess having so much space is unnerving!

March Madness!

It's that time of year again- March Madness!  This is the only time of year I enjoy watching basketball- I feel invested when I fill out a bracket and actually care about the outcomes.  My guesses as to who will win are completely uneducated as I don't watch any basketball until the championship tournament starts, but it doesn't really seem to matter.  I still do about as good or even better than Kurt and Adam (both of whom pay a lot more attention than me!).  As always we're cheering for UW (even though they didn't make the tournament this year).

Mom and I found this adorable onesie and tiny foam finger at the UW Bookstore.  We just had to get them for Hattie!

2 months!

Hattie is two months old!

At her 2 month appointment Hattie weighed 10lbs 10.5oz (in the 50%) and 23in long (75%).  So she's average weight and tall.  She's very responsive and makes great eye contact according to the doctor so she's progressing nicely overall.

I can't believe we've made it 2 months already.  I'm so lucky to be Hattie's mom.  I love her more and more as time passes.  I love the feeling of her head on my arm as she falls asleep.  I love her gummy smile and when she stares at me from across the room (she knows me!).  I love her little belly and fingers and toes!  I love that she learned to roll over just to avoid tummy time (that's what I think anyways).  I love that she's mostly bald on top with lots more hair on the back and sides of her head- old man hair!  I love her little cheeks and ears especially when they leave marks on my arm after I've been holding her for a while.  I love nursing her and seeing her adorable profile.  I even love her cry!  I can't wait to see her grow and learn even though it makes me a bit sad at the same time.  She's my Hattie Bear!

Strolling

Hattie rode in her stroller for the first time last week!  We had to wait until she could hold up her head a little better.  I think she enjoyed it, or at least was comfortable, because she eventually fell asleep.

This stroller has quite the legacy in my family!  First it was Wendy and Chad's stroller (Wendy's my cousin) then it was passed on to Megan and Joe, and now Kurt and I have it!  BOB strollers are awesome!  I'm so glad we were able to inherit one.

We walked on the Sammamish River Trail which connects to the Burke Gilman Trail so if we walked long enough we could take it all the way to UW Campus and on to my old house!

It was nice to get out of the apartment, and it was even sunny!  Hopefully we have more sunshine so Hattie and I can get outside more often.

Photo Shoot!

I decided to take pictures of Hattie this morning and thought some turned out well!  Enjoy!

Church

We took a couple pictures the 2nd time Hattie attended church:

We call this a Hattie Hat:

Jungle Gym

We bought Hattie a 'jungle gym'!  It's so called because her cousins Ole and Gus have one of these, but its jungle themed.  So that's now what ours is called.

Hattie seems to like it!  Although it does put her to sleep occasionally.  I love it when this happens- it's much easier to put her down for a nap when she does it herself!

Sometimes I set her on her belly and she's getting much better at holding her head up:

On this day she actually rolled over from her belly to her back!  I was so surprised and excited I almost literally jumped for joy.  She'll be mobile before I know it!

March forth!

I missed posting on March 4th, but we continue to march forth anyways!  Since the last time I posted:

Hattie smiles a lot more,

she holds on tight,

still likes to sleep with her arms out of the blankets,

lounges with Dad,

And she's working on sitting up!  Her neck is getting much stronger.
