Vote! Plus a bonus picture

Kurt and I bought some Lego's this weekend. We filled a small bucket with random pieces of our choosing and held a competition. Who could build the most awesome vehicle out of the pieces?

So here's mine: It's Chewbacca on a Segway with gun arms and radio. Totally awesome, right?

And here's Kurt's. It has flames (that I helped build!).

Which one is your favorite? FYI: the characters are actually key chains (mine's a little old and falling apart)

Bonus picture: And what's so great about it? I'm standing behind Kurt! Ha! I love it!

Kurty is thirty!

Yesterday was Kurt's birthday! We (well, he) opened presents, ate dinner with his parents, had some delicious delicious made-from-scratch cake, and I topped the day off by giving Kurt a bloody nose with the soccer ball I gave him. I sure made his 30th birthday memorable.

Rumors

My mom called me yesterday. She had just talked to a family friend. This friend congratulated her, to my mom's bewilderment, at becoming a grandma again. My mom had no idea what she was talking about. The friend's response, "well, isn't Charity having a baby?" Mom: "I think I would have heard that". They laughed off the whole matter and the friend could not remember where she heard such a thing. Mom just thought she'd tell me in case I was congratulated myself..."news" tends to spread. No, I am not pregnant and yes, my mom would have heard such news if it had existed.

Royal Pain

Warning: I'm about to rant.
Last night starting around 11pm ridiculously loud music started blaring outside our (my and Kurt's) window. You see, a bar opened up next door to our apartment building...great. It's called the Royal or something like that. It's got a real classy sign of a skeleton holding a giant beer bottle. The music continued. We put our box fan on full blast and I plugged my ears with my iPod headphones listening to some calming music. It was the Pride and Prejudice soundtrack (the Keira Knightly version)- mostly piano and other string instruments and no words. This contrasted strongly with the heavy metal pounding though my window. Oh man. I was so mad. Not only was the music outrageously loud, but we had no warning at all. Something you should know about me, I really hate loud music. If you remember a couple months ago we had a problem with our landlord blaring loud music- I'd take that over last night any day. So today Kurt noticed a sign taped to the front gate of our apt building- we were not the only ones who noticed the music. Apparently, the bar had hooked up a PA system outside and had a live band playing in the alley (our apartment's on the alley side of the building). When people approached the bar to ask them to quiet down they were bribed with shots of tequila to not call the police. The police were called anyways and they finally quieted down, just to turn the volume back up again once the police left. The note ended with an email address to send a complaint to. All emails will be printed off and brought to city hall. And guess what? I actually wrote one! It's so not like me to do such a thing, but that's how annoyed I was. Just ask Kurt :)

It's 10:26pm. Cross your fingers that the music doesn't start up again tonight!

Sunshine

It was so hot in Seattle yesterday it drove me to do something I typically try to avoid- I went swimming! (someone even complemented my swimsuit which made me feel rather good).

Nice view at Madrona Beach:

Then to Ivars for some fish and chips which we ate at Gasworks Park:

The Gasworks

Reflective glasses:

Leg shadows!

We hiked to the top of the hill and found this:

There was a wedding at Gasworks! And then we heard this old-timey band playing music- it was the entire wedding party processing (like a procession- not a computer- say it like you were Canadian) to the reception site. It was awesome- here's a video...sorry it's sideways.

Another niece post

My niece Sofia this time though :)

A conversation after Biehl family dinner last Sunday between Sofia and 'Oma' (=my mother-in-law. Oma=grandma in German)

Sofia: Oma, can I have a carrot
Oma: Yes (Oma walks towards the fridge)
Sofia: It's not for me it's for my snowman.
Oma: Oh yeah? Where's he?
Sofia: In the snow.
Oma: There's no snow
Sofia: He's in a snowball.

You can't argue with that logic! Little kids are hilarious.

How to eat your birthday cake:

Step 1: Make sure the cake is bigger than you.

Step 2: Use fingers

Step 3: Get it all over your face.

Happy 1st Birthday Charlotte!

This week

My grandpa, 89, got his back surgery yesterday and is doing remarkably well. He was walking today apparently. Sheesh! Why was anyone worried? K...knock on wood...let's hope he continues to do well!

Kurt and I made an impromptu meal that turned out to be delicious! Red and green peppers, onions, corn, and chicken cooked in a pan with some olive oil and taco seasoning. Put over rice (and I topped mine off with some cheese). It was better than I expected. And so colorful! Like Kurt said- it's the Mexican flag...plus yellow.

I've seen lots of family which has been fabulous!

I was in charge of my first check run at work- go me!

And here's a random video of "my grandparents dancing" (quotation marks intentional).
