Everyday

Another everyday post!

I'm a monster!

Trying on her costume (and checking it out in the mirror):

Mom! I put lotion on my arms!

Hattie's drawings are the best.  She's really in to drawing people right now and I think it's adorable.  This is inside a thank you note (I hope you already received this Jeanette!) and I asked her not to draw where I had written. "But Mom! I HAVE to! Daddy is really tall!"  I can't argue with that!  And yet...Hattie is head and shoulders taller than Jeanette.

I let Hattie pick out her own outfits.  This was to go get a flu shot.  A few days before Halloween I decided wings were ok :)

And this!  That's me (in the purple) and my sister Ashley.  I think we're in high school, so either my freshman or sophomore year.

Oma and Opa came for a visit (and I don't have pictures!!!), but Hattie and Oma made sugar cookies. They didn't get through all the dough so Hattie and I finished up the other day.  They're delicious!  Thanks for you visit!  We love you!

Trying on costumes in Target:

We had an extra balloon- Hattie asked if we could send it to Henry in heaven.

Fun in one of my photo apps:

This game, Spot It, came in a kids meal.  That water splash with an eyeball? Hattie informed me it's called a rascal.  She cracks me up!

Halloween!

Hattie loves Halloween.  She loves picking a costume (she has the past two years, I'm always amazed she has such strong opinions), pumpkins, and of course, trick-or-treating!  This year she decided to be a witch for Halloween.

Me: You want to be a witch? Are you going to be a nice witch or a scary witch?
Hattie: I'm going to be a creepy witch!!!

This conversation was way back in September, but she stuck with her decision of being a creepy witch.  She wasn't very creepy though...sorry Hat!

And a HUGE thank you to my mom for making Hattie's costume!  She loved it!

I had a lot of fun coming up with costume ideas for my big ol' belly.  But I settled on....Mike Wazowski!  And Kurt, a good sport as always, was James P. Sullivan, aka Sully.  What's a monster without his best bud?

And I kept singing this to Kurt, "Put that thing back where it came from or so help me! So help me, so help me, and cut!"

We met up with the Roths and went trick-or-treating with them:

I love this picture!

The Hattie Hat might be too big to wear soon:

Hattie and Lena running towards me.  I love these girls!

It was a happy Halloween!

Baby Update

As of this moment, writing this blog post, I am 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant.  I'm due next Friday.  So anytime now!  I'm hoping for sooner rather than later.  All looks good, for both me and baby, at my appointments.  My OB (who is so great) checks out Baby's heart at every appointment and has told me if we have any concerns about me or the baby at all, I'll be induced so we can check that boy out and make sure he's ok.  I immensely appreciate her attention and understanding and desire to ensure this boy's health!

Around 35 weeks Megan threw me a baby shower!  I never had one with Henry and wished I had, especially after he passed away.  I wish I had celebrated his pending arrival with family and friends and just had a day to be happy about him!  So, knowing this, and even though we don't need much baby gear this time around, Megan put on a shower for me and baby!  It was wonderful to have the love and support of friends from all different times and areas of my life.  Most people only knew one or two others in attendance, so kind of a funny group, but I truly appreciate everyone who came!

And we got about 90% of the things we needed.  I only had to buy a few more things to feel prepared for baby's arrival.  We are truly blessed to have so many people who love our family!  We love you too!

And here I am, just a few days ago!  I thought the pumpkin comparison was particularly apropos for this time of year.  We can't wait to meet you little man!  Please come soon, but most of all, make sure you're healthy.  We love you already.

Iona

October was a busy month, but we wanted to get up to Iona to visit Grandpa and Henry's grave one last time before baby comes.

We thought it'd be fun to go to a pumpkin patch and carve pumpkins while in Iona.  Apparently, pick your own pumpkin patches with activities for kids and such aren't really a thing in Idaho Falls area.  We thought there would be several since there are tons of farms, but I guess they don't grow pumpkins!  We finally found one and enjoyed the activities:

She was scared to come down- Dad to the rescue!

Riding the train!

The kids' hay bale maze:
The activities were good, but the pumpkins were not.  It was so picked over and most of what was left in the field was rotten.  The pumpkins weren't grown there, but placed (there were cut corn stalks) so I'm guessing southeastern Idaho isn't a good place for pumpkins.  We ended up going to Albertsons and buying pumpkins there!

Hattie was super excited about the idea of carving pumpkins, but soon lost interest when she realized it was more of a grown up job.  And she refused to touch the pumpkin guts, the part she could have done!  So it was mostly an activity for me and Kurt.  They turned out well though!  Hattie loved having them on our front porch:

And of course, we visited Henry.  We were distraught to find his headstone filthy upon arrival.  So we got some supplies from Grandpa's garage and cleaned it up.  My amazing 95 year old grandpa helped, so Henry and Grandma's graves are now both in great shape.

Some Halloween decorations for our sweet boy!

Happy Halloween Henry!

Fall Fun

Also on the 15th, we went to a Halloween party thrown by a family in our ward.  We all dressed up in last minute costumes as we didn't have Hattie's yet and I didn't want to reveal my costume until Halloween :)

Hattie wore her Izzy costume (with wings) from her costume box:

I found an easy maternity costume on Pinterest: Winnie the Pooh!  And we bought Kurt a yellow polo at DI to be Christopher Robin:

Hattie was shaking sawdust out of her shoes for a couple days after this fun game- finding candy and prizes hidden in the sawdust!

We had a great time!  It was nice to catch up with different people in the ward.

We also went to the Fall Festival put on by the ward.  As always, Hattie had a blast!  She loves to socialize and is so outgoing.

Fun with glow stick prizes:

Burlap sack race...against herself!  Still fun.

And a donut eating contest, done with dad.  Hilarious!

Kurt loves all these pictures...sorry!  I just think it's too funny!

I was also very proud of Hattie's hairdo.  It's WAY more than I usually do.  She was rather impatient by the end, but liked it when I was done, thank goodness!

She returned the favor the next day by doing my hair:

It took a while to get all those clips out...there were over 30!
