August 2017: Highlights

August was a busy month!  Be prepared for a long post! Roman turned 9 months old! He weighed in at 22lbs (85%) and measured 29 inches (70%...

Air Force One

Not the movie, the real, actual plane!  The President made a stop in Las Vegas while we were waiting for our flight home (we went from Orlando to LV to Seattle).  It landed right outside the window where we were waiting.  Luckily, I had my camera handy.

It was my first time seeing Air Force One!

Kennedy Space Center

No joke- I wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up.  It didn't happen, but I was still super excited to go to the Kennedy Space Center!  My favorite park was probably the Rocket Garden.

I can't imagine riding in one though- it would be a tight squeeze!

We also saw a couple IMAX films on the International Space Station and Hubble.  We went to a NASA update session as well and just wandered around!  It was a great end to a great trip!

This was the day of our anniversary!  I cannot believe it's been 2 years- it's flown by!  I must have chosen the right guy :)

OMA

The Orlando Museum of Art.  We accidentally went here.  We wanted to go to the science center, but after parking in the wrong place and going to two different entrances that were both closed we saw the OMA near by and went there instead.  The doors were open :)  It was fine, a pretty small museum.  Our favorite part was the kids' area!  We got to build a Maya temple and did some artwork.  We also had some fun with the strange sculptures outside:

Downtown Disney!

After dinner at Bongos (it was delicious!), watching The Lorax, and wandering around Downtown Disney...

...which included seeing some giant Lego structures in the world's largest Lego store (not sure if it is)...

we saw Cirque du Soleil: La Nouba!

It's the most amazing circus in the world!  It was my 3rd time going, but Kurt's first!  He was very impressed.

We had fun in the gift shop too:

And here's the only picture of the two of us together from the entire trip!  Lucky for us someone asked me to take their picture and then offered to take ours!

Universal Studios

Comic book land, Seuss land, and the Hulk roller coaster.

Our favorite part outside of Harry Potter Land was Jurassic Park!

I mean, we got to combine our DNA with Dino DNA.  It was a very scientific process.  Here's what a Charity/dinosaur hybrid (bottom) and a Kurt/dinosaur hybrid (top) would look like:

Here are some random pictures: Me and Horton (I love elephants!), Kurt pretending to be a statue, Kurt on tiger (love this one!), me on monkey, the Lorax (saw the movie while there), and the Johnson family crest (the one above 'Johnson' with the black X).

Harry Potter Land!

Day 1 in Orlando we went straight to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

First sighting:

Hogwarts!

Hogsmeade:

The shops:

The Three Broomsticks:  I had Cornish Pasties with a side of Butterbeer.  We even opted for the souvenir mugs.

It was magical!  And super crowded.  By comparison the rest of the park seemed empty!  Our favorite ride was the Dragon Challenge.

Pictures!

Here's Gus and Ole!

Gus is in back- the relaxer.  And Ole's up front blowing kisses :)  (See the onesies they have on?)

Close up of that pose:

It's amazing the difference 1 pound makes when you're so small.  After holding Ole and then Gus, Gus seems huge!  They're both absolutely adorable.  I just wish we lived closer to each other!  We had a great trip, but too short!  Ashley and Adam seem to be holding up well, just a bit tired.  They're great parents and are very happy to have the little guys!

Most of my pictures are of Ole (sorry Gus! He was busy being held)

Here's a close up of Gus in the center:

Since I've been home

I was talking to my sister Megan when I walked in the front door this evening.  She put my adorable niece Charlotte on the phone who sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to me!  And you know what she did next?  Asked to talk to Kurt!  I might be a little jealous.  I'm glad little kids like my husband though.  I guess it's a good quality.

As we sat on the couch watching Wheel of Fortune out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw something come out of Kurt's mouth.  'Did something fall out of your mouth?'  'What? No."  "Oh my gosh!  It's your breath!  I can see your breath!  Maybe we should turn on the heat..."

We made it home safe and sound from our wonderful trip down to California.  Pictures are coming!
