Easter!

On Sunday morning Kurt, Hattie, and I went to sacrament meeting.  Grandpa wasn't feeling well so Grandma stayed home with him.  Grandpa did agree to take a picture of the three of us though (I asked grandma, but she recruited grandpa because he can see better).

We also had an Easter egg hunt in the front room, which went better than the one in Iona Square.  Hattie was an old pro at collecting, but she wasn't sure what to do with the candy inside.

It was a wonderful weekend!  Can't wait to go back at the end of this month!

Easter egg hunt in Iona Square!

My grandparents live a block away from Iona Square (aka 'the square').  On Saturday morning their street was suddenly flooded with cars- families parking and getting out.  Grandma and I were wondering what on earth was happening!  Grandpa walked in and said 'well it must be the Easter egg hunt in the square today'.  Oh really?  Hattie and I quickly got shoes and coats on and walked over.  Kurt was in the shower, but I knocked on the door, told him where we were headed, and told him to hurry up and join us!

I was shocked at how many people were there.  It was packed!  The whole town and more must have been there.  We found the 0-3 year old section and stood behind a couple rows of people who were all waiting for the signal to go grab the eggs (they were in plain sight).  The signal was given and the place went crazy.  Hattie was terrified!  She grabbed on to me and would not let go.  After a few minutes she calmed down, but all the eggs were gone!

Despite her fear, Hattie had observed well.  Instead of gathering eggs, she went around picking up pine cones and putting them in her basket!  Needless to say, it was absolutely adorable.

Kurt met up with us and we wandered around the rest of the square.  And we ran into the Easter Bunny!  Imagine that.  Hattie found him slightly less terrifying than Santa:

G&G's

I forgot to post about Easter!  We went up to Iona for the weekend to spend the holiday with my grandparents.  Grandpa wasn't feeling his best, but we still had some fun.  Hattie especially loved Grandma's play necklaces:

And swinging and sliding!

Knock knock!

One of Hattie's favorite things to do is knock on doors:

Hogle Zoo

Olivia had a birthday!  To celebrate we went to the zoo- two at the zoo!

They had one of these things too (like at the science center)!

The bear came right up next to us!

Elephants!

Hattie just plopped on the ground to watch these guys:

Seals and a polar bear (which we didn't see).

They have a new water play area which all the kids loved:

We rode the carousel!

Our last stop was the bird show!  It was terrifying (not really, I just don't like birds!).

I was impressed with the Hogle Zoo!  They've done a lot of remodeling lately and it's really well done.  It may be smaller than the Woodland Park and San Diego Zoos, but that allows you to see most of it in one day (there's no way you could see all of the SDZ in one visit!).  Also, unlike in Washington, it's sunny!  Therefore tons of animals were out and about.

Happy birthday Olivia Afton!  I'm so happy we live nearby now and get to know how amazing you are first hand.

Roasty toasty

Last week we went with the Roths for a hot dog roast!  We wanted to try and do some fun things before Kurt went back to school.  This little trip would have been better if Hattie hadn't fallen on her head twice while there.  Poor little lady!  She got a nice scrape on her head from one of the falls.  Unfortunately, I think it's just comes with being a toddler.

This water spout was broken and continuously pour out water.  The kids sure had fun!  I'm just glad we had a change of clothes for Hattie.

Spill #1 was falling out of this chair:

Had to keep a constant eye on the kids!

The boys!  Between our two families they're the only ones.  Unless the newest Roth baby turns out to be a boy.  Oh yeah- Megan's pregnant!!!  Wahoo!

Family dinner!

We ate dinner at Kurt's parent's house twice while there.  It was so nice to spend time with family!  You don't realize how much you love people until you're not around them.  Hope to see you all again soon!

The picture on the left was taken when Hattie was about a month old.  In the picture on the right Hattie's 15 months.  Love these pictures!

Pacific Science Center

After the funeral on Saturday there was lunch for the family.  Here's Hattie with (most of) her cousins!  And no, I'm not sure why William is holding up that picture!

After that a bunch of us (and Jeanette too!) went to the science center.  There as a spy exhibit which Lucas was very excited to see!  He's going to be a spy when he grows up.

These two REALLY wanted their pictures taken while sitting on the pig.

In the spy exhibit there was a laser maze.  Kurt tried it out and I took pictures of the screen outside.  He looks like a ghost doing some crazy dance.

Fun with mirrors!

This was Hattie's favorite area!  She loved the car and slide.

Fun story- while in the spy exhibit I turned to Kurt and asked, "where's the stroller?!"  Yeah, we had left it outside.  Luckily it was still there when we got out of the exhibit.  Anyways- I thought Hattie was super cute sitting on this bench!  She loved looking through Jeanette's purse.  Seriously, that's all she wanted to do!

And here's one more of the Han kids!

MV

We spent our first day up in Mt. Vernon.  We were able to see Lili, ate lunch with G-pa, and discovered (well, at the airport actually) that Hattie loves to push around the stroller.  She also looks cute sitting on top of a rock!

My favorite part of this video is at about 11 seconds when Hattie realizes she just walked by Moose and then doesn't know what to do!  She's not a big fan of dogs.
