The Weekend!

Hattie survived her first night away from home!  I don't think she was too worried- really, it was me :)  We house/dog sat for my cousin Carolyn and her family this weekend.  Even though I was worried, it was actually pretty great!  We still spent a lot of time on the couch watching TV, but it was a bigger and comfier couch and a larger TV.  It was nice having more room and not sharing any walls with neighbors.  And we had a shorter drive to church on Sunday morning!  Which is good because we arrived about 20 minutes late.  We're still working on getting all three of us ready and out the door on time (we had problems arriving on time before Hattie was born!).

Church went ok.  She slept through sacrament but primary wasn't as smooth.  We survived though!  And the primary kids loved her- especially the girls in our class :)  One wanted to "eat her face off".  We said no to that.  Somehow, I forgot to take a picture!!!  She wore an adorable dress.  But here's a picture I took today of the two of us:

P.S. You have to pack WAY more stuff for a weekend trip when you have a baby.  At least double the amount!

Month 2 thus far

Hattie's growing!  I can tell she's bigger and heavier.  Her face is more filled out as are her little legs and belly.  She's now wearing 3 month size clothing even though it's still a bit baggy.  Sometimes she sleeps for 5 hours straight!  But not always so Kurt and I are tired all the time.  We have made lots of outings!  Including visiting my, Kurt, and Oma's workplaces!  We've also gone to Costco and cousin Carolyn's house.  Which means Hattie gets to ride in her car seat:

She's also started smiling!  It's infrequent, but I love it when she does!

Yesterday for the first time she fell asleep on her own!  It was in the late afternoon/early evening and I set her down on the floor to stretch and wiggle.  I decided to lay down on the floor with her and play.  I was tired and closed my eyes for a bit.  When I opened them I saw Hattie was following suit- soon she was out!  And stayed asleep for over an hour.  When will she start doing this at night?  That would be awesome!  Also- she rolls on to her side sometimes when I lie her on her back (as seen below).

She still hates having her hands and arms covered.  Even in her sleep she moves them out from under the blankets.  Drives me crazy!  Her little hands get so cold sometimes.

Month 2 has many more adventures to come!  We're going back to church on Sunday and we're house sitting for my cousins this weekend.  Wish us luck!

Valentine's Day!

Hattie's first holiday was Valentine's Day!  We didn't do much- Kurt picked up take out, I decorated the table, and that's it!  But I did take some pictures:

We tried again with the octopus (as it was one day after she turned 1 month old).  Here's what happens if I don't hold her up!

We love our Hattie Bear!  Happy first Valentine's Day!

One Month!

Hattie had her one-month-iversary on February 13th.  She was very grumpy that day so this is literally the only picture I took before she broke down:

She's sitting with the giant octopus Aunt Lili gave her :)

Week 4

Hattie and I were much more adventurous in week 4 of her life!

We left the house a few times.  We took a couple walks and I think Hattie experienced sunshine for the first time!  It's been overcast for most of her life.  Honestly, I'm not sure she enjoyed the sun too much- it's so bright!  We also made the fastest grocery shopping trip ever to Safeway.  Here's proof:

We ran in, grabbed milk and sour cream, and then paid.  We were in the store less than 10 minutes total.  Kurt, Hattie, and I also went to a training meeting for church.  We arrived almost 40 minutes late, but decided to show up anyways.  I don't think anyone cared since we brought such an adorable baby with us!

Hattie loves to stretch:

She also loves her many aunts (Megan, Ashley, Ani, Lili, Cristi, Kim, and Jana)

And of course she loves her dad!

She's super stylish in her jeggings (jean leggings):

And in her sweater!

And likes to match Mom occasionally:

She still loves to sleep on Dad's chest even though it leaves it's mark:

But she doesn't love helping with laundry!

She's the best!

Biehl Family Dinner

Hattie was held by lots of Biehl family members at family dinner this week!

Her cousins both wanted turns:

Sofia

William

And her great-grandmas! I love this picture!  Now we just need to go meet great-grandma Rockwood in Idaho!  And great-grandpa too :)

She was also held by Oma, Opa, and Aunt Kim, but sadly there are no pictures.  She's a well loved little lady!

Week 3

In week 3 of the life of Hattie:

She wore clothes that weren't pajamas

but sometimes wore no clothes at all!

She danced,

made eye contact,

hung out with grandma (who crocheted her a blanket!),

pretended she was a frog,

and took a walk somewhere other than around the apartment complex!

Can't wait to see what week 4 brings!
