Space Needle

At the Space Needle yesterday I attended Beren McKay's wedding reception, offended President Thatcher, and took a picture of a reflection. My favorite picture of the night.

Love it

I was showed this in one of my classes today and couldn't help but smile. I am a huge fan of Danny Kaye because of White Christmas and how can't you love Louis Armstrong? Watch it all! It's great! (that's assuming you are a decent human being and have a love of these great performers as I do)

Name Confusion

Kurt and I went to see the Dark Night for only $2 at the new theater in Northgate last week. We got there bought our tickets and went to stand in the concessions line (drinks and popcorn were also $2). While standing there with nothing much to do I examined the tickets. I quickly noticed "Charity $2.00" was printed on each one. What? Why did they print my name on the ticket? How do they know my name? I paid in cash...not with my debit card. I didn't show ID of any kind. What...oh...right. They're not referring to me. The $2 is going to charity. Little "c". They really shouldn't capitalize the "C" and make me worry over nothing.

Mean Professor

I received a scathing email from my Roman Republic professor yesterday. She informed that she did not care whether or not I was done with the files- there are rules. You can only keep them for 24 hours, so they had better be back by the end of the day.

As you may have guessed, this email was accidentally sent out to my entire class. It was not meant for us, but one poor soul in the history department. Please return the files. She might hurt you.

Movies

From least favorite to favorite:
1. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past: Horrible. Bad. I laughed a couple times, but it was not good. However, I hand it to Matthew McConaughey for having the most blindingly white teeth of anyone on the silver screen.

2. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas- it was good, but not happy. Not happy at all. I loved that it had Professor Lupin in it though (yes I'm a Harry Potter geek).

3. Wolverine: It was my first X-men movie and I was pleasantly surprised. "Hugh Jackman with his shirt off is like a fish in water. Honestly he should never have his shirt on." (this is a quote from Kurt Biehl when I asked what to write about X-men).

4. Star Trek: Fantastic! I loved it. I'm not a complete stranger to Star Trek (thank you mom) but my exposure has mostly been of the Next Generation kind with Captain Jean Luc Picard (another bonus of Wolverine- Capt. P makes an appearance at the end as Dr. X). It was the best movie I've seen in quite a while and recommend it to all of you. Also, Sylar is Spock. Definite bonus. How can you not love seeing your favorite psycho killer as a Vulcan?

Playgrounds

So I went home this past Saturday and Sunday. Anacortes has surprised me. First, there is this crazy rocketship rope contraption to climb on out at Washington Park. I've been on it before, but it's just unlike anything I've ever seen.

Then we decided to check out the new playground in town. I have never seen anything more awesome in my life- in the context of playgrounds. It was awesome. I can't describe it. The next time you're in Anacortes go to Storvik Park and check it out. There's art, instruments, slides, "raging rivers", and the best (and only) recliner swings I've ever seen in my life.

Bad Bus Luck

I left the house at 10:07 this morning. I knew in all likelihood I had missed the 65 so I walked straight to the 75 bus stop. I got there and I waited...and waited...and waited...and waited...and waited. At 10:47 the bus finally came. The driver informed us passengers that the bus before his had broken down somewhere on Sandpoint. So I unintentionally missed my first class. An hour and a half later I returned to the bus stop to get home. I missed the 65 by about 10 seconds. It was in sight, pulling away, but the driver did not wait for me. So instead I had to wait another 15-20 minutes for the 75 to arrive. I got on and was texting back and forth with a couple of friends. I got a bit distracted and missed my stop. So I got off and walked twice as far as usual to get home.

'Ello Gov'ner!

I walked to the bus stop. Two old women were standing there. One says "excuse me! We're strangers here. Where does the 65 bus go?" now read that again in a British accent. I told them it goes up 35th. "Perfect. Thank you dear". Ok, maybe she didn't say "dear" but I will always remember it that way. I loved it.

(now imagine a picture of the Queen of England right here. below the text. Imagine this one. For some reason my computer is not letting me add a picture. lo siento.)

p.s. Happy Half Birthday to me yesterday!
