I'm excited for this movie!

I think it's supposed to be Rue's melody at the end....but why did they make it sound like the X-Files?  Nonetheless, I'm excited for March 23rd!

We joined a gym!

It just opened (ish) and is a couple miles from where we live.  It's called Vision Quest...I kind of hate the name.  But Miss Washington works out there, so you know it's good!

Happy Birthday KGB!

Today is Kurt's birthday!  Woohoo!  His morning started off with a surprise from me:

I drew 31 things I associate with Kurt!  All freehand (no tracing here!  More to come on this project...)

I made my German Chocolate cake!  It was delicious.  I could only find one candle- a wine bottle candle from a French restaurant we ate at a year or so ago- it says 'Celebrate' on it!  I spiced things up with a star cut out :)

And there was a new pop machine.  I've never seen so many options in my life!  Here are all the diet coke options: regular, vanilla, cherry, cherry vanilla, lime, orange, and raspberry!  Who's ever heard of orange and raspberry diet coke?

Emails and Phone Calls

I received the following email a few days ago:

Hi Charity,
I'm finally getting around to my piano schedule and wanted to know if you were still interested in piano lessons for your son?  If you could let me know at your earliest convenience that would be great!
Thanks so much!

Confused?  Yeah...me too.  The writer of the email is in my ward (at least I figured out that much) and guess what-  there's another Charity in my ward!  I've never had to share my name before.  Weird 


Kurt and I are going to visit my grandparents in a couple weeks.  I called my grandma the other day and told her Kurt would only be staying for the weekend because he has to get back to work.  My grandma's response? "That's just like a man".  I laughed out loud and so did she :)  I can't wait to visit G&G!

He's a 2008 Toyota Matrix:

We welcomed him in to our family Thursday August 18th after the not-so-sudden death of Floyd.  Perhaps a more apropos name for Floyd would have been Lemon.  He will not be missed.

Kurt and I are very excited for this newest addition- we'll no longer have to worry about stalling, overheating, or making it to our destination (knock on wood).  And if something breaks?  Well, Marco's under warranty!  Woohoo!  Plus, he's very shiny.

Better late than never

Kurt, Jeanette, and I went to Ephrata, WA this weekend.  We decided to take Floyd (Kurt's car) since he was recently repaired and super clean.  We packed up and headed out.  Apparently, Floyd is not completely fixed.  We only made it to Northbend, WA when Floyd overheated- by the time we exited smoke was coming out from under the hood.  We made it to a gas station, Kurt bought some coolant, and waited for things to simmer down.  Then we headed back to Bothell!  But, not before Floyd started to overheat again.  When this started to happen we'd immediately pull over to the side of the freeway and wait until the engine cooled a bit.  It took a while to get home.  Then we switched all our gear into the Rav (my car) and started again.  We made it to Ellensburg (almost there!) when Kurt got pulled over.  It was pretty lame since he wasn't speeding that much, but the officer let us go with a warning!  We finally made it to Ephrata by 5pm.  Originally we left in time to make it by 2:30.  Whoops!  It was well worth it though!  It was great catching up with Sarah and David, and the rest of the Hammond clan!  I can't wait to see you guys again!

Another Monday!

I've got 2 Lili stories today:

"Chew!  I got new shoes!  Now I can keep up with you!"
I proceed to speed walk away from her and ask "Can you still keep up?" as she falls behind.  I reach the door and stop to pull out my keys.  As I unlock the door Lili catches up, "Yeah!  See I kept up with you!"  Good work Lil!

Lili: Have you seen Rio?
Me: Nope.
Lili: Well, I call the main birds Lili and Joe (her boyfriend).
Me: Oh yeah?  Do you have your own names for other characters?
Lili: Umm....Mom and Clarence are the people because they have glasses.
Me: Do I have a character?
Lili: You're the dog.
Me: Thanks. What about Kurt? Megan? Ashley? Joe? Adam? Ani?
Lili: Megan's the bird with the big nose.  Kurt is the big red bird.  So, you (me...Charity) are actually the little yellow bird.  Because you're with Kurt a lot and the yellow bird is with the big red bird a lot.  And Kurt is bigger than you.
Me: Awesome...anyone else?
Lili: Ani's the bird on the treadmill because she goes to the gym.  Ashley's the lady in the parade (she's in a bright, flashy costume) because she likes to dress up nice all the time.   
Me: What about Adam and Joe?
Lili: Hmmm....Adam's the sick bird.  And Joe....he's that guy (we were watching the movie at this point).
Me: The guy who's hurt?
Lili: Yep.
Me: Wow....so who are the bad guys?
Lili: (thinks for a bit) Our cousin Scott is one...and what's Carolyn's husband's name?
Me: Scott.
Lili: Yeah!  Scott and Scott are the bad guys...but they're not really bad.  They just steal birds.  They're not actually bad people. 

What do you learn from this?  Kurt is definitely the favorite brother-in-law :)  Also, I don't understand why Megan is the bird with the big nose.  She has the smallest nose out of us all!

Lili also complimented my hair today.  I love it when the twins compliment me!  Because they only say what they mean, so you know it's sincere!

My goodness.  Monday's never disappoint!

Meerkats, Flamingos, and Hippos oh my!

Here's what I found fascinating about the meerkats- they still behave exactly like they're in the wild.  They have a sentinel who looks out for danger, the foragers who look for food, and the mob.  A mob of meerkats.  That's right up there with a gaggle of geese.

Flamingos! They weren't as big or bright as I imagined.

Hippo!  I've never seen a hippo out of the water at the zoo.  Their legs are so short!

Monday Memories

Lili: Chew!  There's paint on your pants!!!
Me: Yeah...they came that way.  $10 at Gap.
Lili: What the HECK are they selling pants like that for?
Me: ....um....so you can look like a painter.
Lili: Ooooohh.  Ok.  That's cool. (Then reaches over and touches the paint)

While I was making meals, Lili asked: Are you making us noodles this week?
Me: I'm making ravioli.  Does that count?
Lili: Yes.  Are you trying to turn us in to pandas?
Me: What?
Lili: Come on Chew.  Kung Fu Panda.  Panda's eat noodles.  Haven't you seen that movie?  There are two now.
Me: Yeah I saw the first one...I must've forgotten about the noodles.
