New 'do

The time has come for my yearly trim!  Jeanette was kind enough to cut my hair while we were visiting in Washington:

Jeanette cut my hair after Hattie went to bed so when she woke up the next morning she wasn't sure what to think!  She kept on grabbing my bangs.

St. Patty's Day

I dared to make corned beef and cabbage!  And it actually turned out pretty good!  Hattie wore her green pants and colored for the first time.  We've tried before, but all she did was eat the crayons.  It did devolve into that eventually, but she made some scribbles first :)

She's waving and saying "bye" in this one.

Hattie Bunny!

She's ready for Easter!  This is the only headband she's allowed to stay on her head (since she's figured out how to take them off).

UW

Our final stop before flying home was the University of Washington.  We got Thai food from the Thaiger Room (my favorite Thai restaurant), then parked at the Institute where Sister Williams is still manning the front desk!  We had a nice chat and then set out to explore our alma mater.

Tried out the panorama feature on my phone in red square:

It was clear enough to see Mr. Rainier!

The Quad!  In another week (well, now) it will be in full bloom!

It was wonderful to see family and friends.  We miss being near them.  Visiting felt like coming home.  Farewell Washington!  We hope to come back soon!

P.S. Hattie turned off the computer while I was writing this post and I just got around to writing it again!

Downtown

We had a very busy day in downtown Seattle.  First we visited Kurt's old office and then we had lunch with Kim and Kurt's dad.  Kim still had some time before needing to be back at work so we wandered around REI.  Hattie enjoyed the kid's area.

She even let Kim hold her!

Then we went to the waterfront and met up with Jeanette.  First stop was Pike Place Market!

We bought some macarons so Hattie could try her first one!  I think she liked it.

Love the produce and flowers!

Then we walked to the ferris wheel and took a ride!

Afterwards we had to ride the carousel!  Actually, I think it was my first time riding it as well:

And of course we had to stop and take advantage of this photo op.

Our final stop of the day was at the Root Beer Store (not in downtown).  I've wanted to go ever since I heard about it, but never made it before we moved.  The fun thing about being a tourist is that you have time to do touristy things!  We bought a few different kinds, but there was only one that I really liked (the others were fine).  It was a fun stop!

Los Biehls

We were able to visit all of the Biehl clan at family dinner on Sunday.  Here are some shots of Hattie with her cousins...she doesn't always like to be held.  Sofia was super excited to see Kurt and I think Hattie got a little jealous at times.  She doesn't usually have to share her dad!

We stayed with Jeanette while in the Seattle area.  She had all these plastic necklaces that Hattie LOVED.  She would put them on and off and had a grand time.  Jeanette even sent a couple home with us.  Thanks Jeanette!

Anacortes

The first days of our trip to Washington were spent up north.  While there we were able to visit Mom, Clarence, Ani, Lili, Sam, and Larry. It was wonderful to see everyone!

Foolishly, I didn't take many pictures while up in Mt. Vernon and Anacortes, and have zero photos with people. It was a gloomy day in Anacortes, but I took some pictures at Washington Park.  Love my hometown!  It's beautiful even without the sun shining.

Throwback Wednesday

My mom came up for a short and unexpected visit at the beginning of February.  Her uncle passed away and she came for his funeral.  He was a well loved man who lived a long life so despite the circumstances we were able to have an enjoyable weekend with the family.  He lived just an hour north of Ogden (near Logan) so Hattie and I went up for the funeral and stayed in a hotel with mom.  During our most recent trip home, I emailed myself some photos from my mom's iPhone.

While there we went swimming in the hotel pool.  Hattie LOVED it.  Upon leaving the pool, I set her down for a second to put a towel around me and she ran back toward the water (I caught her before she fell in, don't worry).

Fun story- My Auntie Ann came down to Utah as well.  She asked me if Hattie's swimsuit was a hand-me-down.  Why yes, I got it from Megan.  And Megan got it from Sanya (Ann's daughter-in-law).  And Sanya got it from Wendy (Ann's daughter).  Which means that so far every granddaughter of my mom and aunt have owned the same swimsuit.  Crazy!  And kind of cool.

We also did some shoe shopping.  Hattie didn't care too much about shoes, but she did like the boxes!

Climber

Hattie will climb anything she is able to.  For example:

Dishwasher

Here

In her old car seat

And most recently, the closet!

She had a blast in her closet fort. And half the fun was learning to climb in and out (with the aid of a box):

Also, look how much she's grown since she was 1 month old!
