Half Birthday!

Happy half birthday to Hattie!  Our little girl is 6 months old.  She's on the downhill slope to 1 year!

Hattie has grown so much in the past month.  At her 4 month appointment Hattie was small- in the 25% for height and head size and 35% for weight.  But at her 6 month appointment she was in the 50% for all three!  Hattie weighed in at 15lbs 13oz (so she's about double her birth weight), 26in long, with a 42cm head.  She's healthy and all other indicators (noises, tracking, movement, etc) are on par for her age.  As our doctor said, "she's perfect!" and I whole heartedly agree.

This month we've ventured in to solid foods!  She's tried rice cereal, bananas, and sweet potatoes.  So far she hasn't seemed to really love anything, but she's interested for a few bites at least.  I guess we'll keep trying!  Here she is eating sweet potatoes (she's such a happy girl!):

Big news this month!  Hattie can sit up!  Completely unassisted for a couple minutes at a time.  She's amazing.  Her legs are getting much stronger.  She can hold on to your fingers and stand up with that as her only support.  She often gets her knees under her when lying on the floor.  If she's on her back she likes to push off of the coffee table or wall or whatever is there with her legs so only her shoulders and head are on the ground.  If she's by a chair or table leg she'll wrap her own legs around it.  Sometimes she even picks up toys with her little feet, but this might be on accident.

She's super smart.  If she's on her jungle gym mat or a blanket and a toy is out of reach she'll grab on to the mat/blanket and pull it toward her until the toy is in reach and then grab the toy.  She also flaps her arms and legs when she's excited.  It's super cute.  She loves tags and chewing my face.  It's becoming increasingly difficult to change her clothes and diaper because she wiggles all around.

Firsts this month (some already documented) include: solid foods, sitting up, new noises, road trip, swimming, and going down a slide.

Even though it's only been a few short months, I feel as if Hattie has been a part of my life forever.  My world has changed completely, I now define myself as Hattie's mom, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
