A while back I got a new email address. Having cajohnson6 as my email started confusing people since my last name is now Biehl. So, I started up a new gmail account. The problem with this? My blog, Random Thoughts and Occurrences, was linked to my old email address. I tried everything I could think of/find to try and I couldn't switch the blog address over to a different google account. So I started up a new blog and figured out how to transfer all of my posts over from the old blog. Thus, this blog looks almost exactly the same just with a different name and URL. And that's why I have new blog. Please follow this one (if you want) as I'll be doing all my posting here now. Enjoy the new blog!
FYI- The picture at the top is of me, Kurt, and Sarah Hammond- two of my most favorite people- taken at Rosario Beach in Anacortes.

Once Upon a Time
In another life I used to make jewelry. Nothing fancy, but I enjoyed it- earrings were my favorite to make. So, for my mom's wedding in two weeks I thought I'd make some orange earrings for myself to wear (the color is orange). I no longer have my beading supplies (it's probably somewhere at my mom's place) so I was working with limited materials. I bought the bare minimum supplies required at a cute little bead store I found near by called the Garden of Beadin': orange beads, earring hooks, and headpins. I used the pliers/wire cutter in our tool box which was less than ideal, but as Tim Gunn would say, I made it work. I made 5 pairs :) Maybe I'll let my sisters wear them at the wedding if they feel so inclined!
Here they are:
And here's part of the mess- I took apart a few necklaces and bracelets that I made years ago and never wear anymore :) I needed more beads!

Snoqualmie
Kurt and I went to the Snoqualmie Falls this weekend- it was awesome! I've never seen a huge waterfall in person before. I was amazed at how much mist there was. We were a safe distance away, and pretty high above water level and we still go wet. We ate a delicious picnic and had a wonderful afternoon!
A few weeks ago I asked Gram (=Kurt's grandma) has she was proposed to. She thought a moment and said "Oh! I do remember. It was at Snoqualmie Falls. And we must've really shook things up because that ledge fell in a few weeks later". I love this story and I'm glad we could go see where Kurt's grandparents started their life together!
I forgot my camera so these are from my phone:

Pac 10 Champs!
Kurt and I were watching the Pac 10 championship game today between the University of Washington (go Huskies!) and the University of Arizona. It went in to overtime.
Me: I'm actually getting in to this!
Kurt: I am so proud right now!
In case you missed it- Isaiah Thomas made a basket at the buzzer putting UW 2 points ahead! It was very exciting. On to March Madness!

Little Kurt
If you didn't know...Kurt spent the first 11 years of his life in Portland! He doesn't often publicize this (as he's very loyal to Seattle) but it's still true. We drove through his old neighborhood- we didn't get out though so all the pictures are from the car :)
Here's his old house
And his elementary school
We also went by a couple parks Kurt played at, including where he learned to play baseball! He said everything looked smaller. Kurt used to walk to school (it's only a few blocks away from the house) and as we drove around D.A. Grout Elementary Kurt said, "Whoa...is this The Hill? I hated walking up this. It's not even a hill! It's a slight incline!". I guess our perspective changes as we grow up!
We stopped by the Portland Temple too:
Great angle, I know ;)
It was a great trip! My only complaint is that it was too short- about 24 hours. Finally- here's a huge thank you to Uncle Norb and Aunt Diane for their hospitality! Not only did they let us stay at their house, but they cooked us 2 meals and provided us with loufas. It was almost like being in a fancy hotel :)

Powell's Books
Sorry I didn't get a better shot from the outside :)
This bookstore in the Pearl Distric of downtown Portland claims to be "the largest independent new and used bookstore in the world" (thank you Wikipedia). When you first enter, it seems unassuming. But then you walk through a doorway and there's another room just as big as the last full of books. And another connected to that. And another and another! It never ends! It's amazing :) Kurt and I spent most of our time in the children's book section (because it's fun!).
I loved the old books!
Really?
Just for Kurt, there was Twilight (and Harry Potter and Chronicles of Narnia) in French!
Our purchases:
This was one of my favorite books growing up.
In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday his books were buy 2 get one free! So we decided to stock up. However, does anyone know what makes this edition of "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" the party edition?
Is it the sparkly gold cover?

OMSI
We loved the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry!
Pronounced om-zee. I was corrected after saying O-M-S-I :) Anyways, we spent more time there than we planned to!
We did some stop motion animation:
Kurt built a water tower:
That didn't survive the earthquake :(
I built a bridge:
And we both built an arch:
We didn't even have to push that many kids out of the way to get a turn!
